oh yeah, I have a laid-back attitude toward messages, email or forum, nothing like how I approach a story or paper. I mean, I don't want people to think I'm a total dumbass but on the other hand, no I'm not sweating commas and shit on the internet.
I get what you're saying if you're writing about a project you did yourself. I was an English major so I wrote about other writers' stories, analyzing their thought processes and so on, and really that's so subjective, and difficult to make lively or entertaining. Or at least I thought so, which is why I didn't go on to get a PhD like other English majors.
If you want to self-publish, check out http://www.hipiers.com/publishing.html#E1 ... Piers Anthony is a long time writer's advocate, and popular sci-fi writer, and I get high from reading his newsletters... he is a true hippy in every sense of the word, though sober (neo-hippy?)... I love that guy... anyways he has a lot of resources AND advise for those who want to publish or self-publish. And all of his advice is right on the mark.
