it didn't work when we overthrew iran's democratically elected government because it nationalized the oil industry back in the 1950's
it's partly our fault too because our foreign policy hasn't been to kind to arabs...they are kinda sensitive about uncle sam carving up the middle east, supporting brutal arab dictators, supporting/supplying/financing israel's 40 year illegal occupation, supporting both sides of the iraq-iran war, starving a million or so arabs to death with trade sanctions, blowing an iranian passenger jet out of the sky and president bush senior taunting the victims, stationing US troops in mecca holy land, bombing iraq for ten years between gulf wars, etc...most folks would think it was totally the fault of arabs if they were doing all that to america for the past century
