Interesting read, particularly his thoughts that the general election is a
foregone conclusion. If Obama is elected, these are just a few of the ways he
intends to increase federal government revenues:
- Repeal Bush tax cuts
- Double capital gains to 29%
- Raise employee contributions to Social Security to 12.4% and adjust cap
beyond $97,000
- Carbon Tax
His business agenda:
- Repeal/renegotiate NAFTA
- All employees must have a pension plan
- Organize unions w/out elections
- 60% employees health care paid by employers
Foreign policy:
- Nearly a trillion dollars in extra foreign aid by 2015
Obviously, if his platform is enacted, the economy, already on life support,
most likely gets mired in a nasty downturn.
The question that I have asked myself recently is this: Can an Obama
presidency do for the libertarian/conservative movement what the Carter
presidency did?
Obama had the most liberal voting record in the Senate in 2007. Is it
possible, knowing a tad bit of history, to root for Obama, pay out the butt for
his thoughtless economic policies for 4 years, knowing very well that
Americans would swing hard right in repudiation in 2012 just like 1980?
