While I avoid pharmaceuticals like the plaque, I think the reasons to vilify the corporations themselves are bit short-sighted.
The companies spend, on average, $360,000,000 to get a drug from the lab to the shelf. Of course they need to be profitable - the idea that profit is "bad" is absurd BTW.
There are thousands of examples of life saving/altering drugs on the market. Many folks here take prescriptions that prove to be literally life saving and add tremendously to the quality of life of not only them, but their loved ones.
AIDS anti-retroviral drugs have lifted the "death sentence" that was the most certain outcome of contraction of that disease. Millions and millions and millions of folks who otherwise would have died now live.
