DB I understand that some of what big pharma produces does good things. I will assume by your statement you are stereotyping my liberalism. My reason for hating big pharma comes from both an educated one and personal experience. The disease that I have is controlled by big pharma. They dictate what the disease is, what the treatment is and what is succesful or not by serving on the committees, both national and international, that determines the correct treatment. They sign a piece of paper which states they are "aware" of the conflict of interest.

The correct treatment as it is stated in the 21st century, is to suggest hormone therapy, a shot that messes with a part of your brain and costs $600 a month, (a portion of which the doctor recieves as commission) the side effects of this are numerous, such as softening of the bones and teeth, hair loss, bleeding, osteoporosis, infertility, hot flashes etc. (The side effects are suffered by a number of women, it's not just a random few, the lawsuits are evidence of that) The drug, if it works, is temporary. Big Pharma (I am leaving out the name of the particular drug company at this time) also suggests that if that doesn't work to perform laser ablation and/or castration in extreme cases. (Although castration does not remove the disease, but who is counting) Should symptoms still persist, which for some it will depending on how advanced the disease has become and the very fact the disease itself has not been removed, the methodology is to blame the patient, that is suggest it's all in the patient's head. So basically if their drug doesn't work, and castration doesn't fix it, call the women suffering crazy. I guess we haven't got out of the witch hunt mentality just as yet. The fact too is that there are other treatments out there, proven more successful, but they manage to keep that info out of the committee sessions as well cuz it don't involve drugs...(it's called excision, ie cutting the disease out, if anyone is curious).

So I understand that some of medicine is miraculous and the fact that we can clone sheep is great. But some medicine is still in the dark ages, and there are women out there that are suffering simply because a drug company is selling pain for profit.
That's my thought and rant on the matter.
best wishes,
HM
