Hey Rabbit,
Glad to learn things are brightening up and you're getting your priorities in better order. I hope I'm not putting a damper on things, but I'm confused about how custody during the school year fits with your potential incarceration? I hope things there are turning positive too.
BTW - my wife had the same arrangement with her ex and her son, only the roles were reversed and he spent the summers with his dad. It worked out well, and he's matured into a balanced, terrific guy with a good relationship with both his parents. Of course, the good faith attitudes and treatment by his parents towards each other were an essential part of the outcome. She didn't always agree with how her ex handled things while her son was with him, but she picked her battles and always tried to handle things in a civil manner. OTOH, my ex would run over me if she saw me walking across the street, and my kids suffered as a result of the acrimony. I'm happy to say, she's mellowed somewhat with the passage of time.
