Mr. B. is on to something there. It is a damn good guitar solo.
I am partial to Led Zeppelin's 1975 tour when they played Stairway to Heaven. There are some true sonic moments there.
I saw Dick Dale back in 2001, in KC, MO. It was a small joint called the Grand Emporium, but they had some big names come through. If you don't know who Dick Dale is, think of Pulp Fiction's main song. The instrumental song is called Miserlou. Dick Dale still tours and he's been called the king of surf guitar.
Check him out, he will blow your mind. Anyway, there were a few moments at that show that just made my jaw drop.
In closing, I think in order to be the best guitar solo, it must be played live. The studio can make everything beautiful with careful editing and a 100 takes. When the artist is on stage, they get one chance to get that face melting solo just right.
I think you can find Elvin Bishop on youtube. It is something else and well worth your time.
Be cool, Auto
