The illegal status of prostitution just strikes me as odd.
It's perfectly legal to give a stranger money. It's perfectly legal to sleep with a complete stranger. So why can't you just sleep with someone for free and then give them a monetary gift that (wink wink) has nothing to do with the sex?
My second argument is that you can't have sex for money, but if you have sex for money and video tape it you are part of the billion dollar porn industry. So next time you enjoy the services of a prostitute, set up a video camera that way you're paying an "actress" rather than soliciting a pro. Basically the law stipulates that you can't trade sex for money.... unless you video tape it and distribute it.
Lastly there are suga mammas and suga daddies, trophy wives and boy toys. People have sex with their partner because they are getting cars or clothes or get to live in a huge mansion and get a slice of the will. All of which is perfectly legal. You can be a greedy slut, just don't be a prostitute.
On the other hand the prostitution industry oftentimes takes advantage of women. Some pros, even in legal brothels are being forced into that situation. But I guess the coercion should be illegal and the act itself should be legal.
