Well I'm going to give you my long story so bare with me. about 50-60 years ago, in a caribbean island lived my grandfather. He was a MJ cultivater all his life. But he was tired of the same Sativa strain weed. One day while feeding his birds, he noticed the variety of seeds. He saw a specific seed that looked very much like a MJ seed. so he gathered about 10 of these seeds and planted them. About 3 months after he was sure now that the seeds were of cannabis. These trees were diferent though, the main "stalk" at the top was all red and the rest of the tree was green. He was later told by one of his buyers that that weed was from Columbia!! He now was the only man in the carribbean growing Columbian high grade sativa!! And I've smoked it already {from his own crop} and trust me, it was worth the energy of planting it. So yes, you should grow your "bird seeds" you might unlock some hidden genetics. Ha
