This is probably the simplest way to get some potent hash from a small amount of bud. After a few runs through this, I can now turn 1.5g into a fat ball of hash in less than an hour. I've gotten 'too' high from it several times and I'm a regular smoker. Some people have asked about it, so here it is.
Supplies: 1g - 5g finely chopped bud (no trim for this method) Everclear or other nearly pure grain alcohol. (Isopropyl can be used, but I feel better with grain alcohol) Glass jar with lid- mason jar will do Metal Tea Filter- get the finest grade you can find at Walmart for $2 Large steel pan Small glass baking pan, small enough to fit inside the steel pan
Directions: 1) Add the chopped bud to the glass jar and pour in just enough Alcohol to submerge the pile. Cap it, and shake the jar for 2 minutes. (do not shake it for much longer than 2 minutes or it will begin to extract other parts of the bud that will make it darker and less potent) 2) Strain the solution into the small glass baking pan with the Metal Tea Filter. It will look light yellow to green in color depending on how long you shake it. 3) Double boil the glass pan inside the steel pan (Low-Medium). Make sure the water level outside the glass is a little bit higher than the Hash solution. (and make sure water wont spill into the precious solution) 4) Take off the burner when about 90% of the Hash solution has dried out- this can take 20-50 minutes. If there are still small streaks of green oily spots, this is fine, it will mix well. Shaking less can reduce the oily spots, and lighten the hash. 5) Once it is cool enough to hold with your hand, take a knife and quickly scrape it side to side, to side to side to side (you'll get the point). Take all those globs of hash and press them together.
The hash should be tan to dark brown in color. It should be solid, then bubble up and evaporate when you light it. Your yield depends on how much resins your strain contains.
