I have a sister age 25 who has been smoking marijuana off and on through her pregnancy (at least once a week she admits, I think a little more). She's now 22 weeks pregnant and has decided to stop. I guess late is better than never. Ultrasounds and testing show a well delovoping fetus despite how sick she has been. She's very worried about the affects on the baby, and also worried that CPS will get involved. Does Texas do routine meconium testing on infants or only if there are reasons to????? Should she be worried about the baby testing positive when she delivers? Should I call CPS or will they catch it when she delivers??? How long will it stay in the baby's system??? She plans to stop now and realizes she's been wrong....and won't even be around it at all. Please help with some advice I don't know what to do. She has an 8 year old and is a great mom so I don't really want to cause problems for the family but I'm concerned for the baby. I don't want to cause problems between my sis and I either. If they test anyway I wouldn't need to call unless the baby wouldn't test positive....
