Do any of you write? Is it incoherent sh!t like I scribe?

I am honestly very protective of my words and do not even let my wife see...most all are written on bar napkins, random post-its, and other scraps. They are all stuffed in a box and maybe someday I will archive them (most all have dates & times).

I write, but I try to be as coherent as possible, because otherwise why should anyone bother reading you? I agonize over grammatical affairs like comma usage and subject-verb agreement. It took me years to pump out 500 pages of my autobiography, only 200 of which are probably good...the rest I some day might cut.

The trouble with writing, I've found, is that nobody cares. There's really not a market, unless you're writing romance, mystery, or thriller; AND (a mighty big AND) have a great talent. And even then, you will have an uphill battle without any connections in the writing or publishing biz. If you're a moderate/average writer like me, then forget it, which is what I did. Why write, if nobody wants to read your stuff?

I've had some luck writing erotica, but there's only so much of that I can handle based upon my aging physiology. Writing the hot stuff really taxes the hormones.

The Poem That Took The Place Of A Mountain
Wallace Stevens
The Poem That Took the Place of a Mountain, Wallace Stevens

There it was, word for word,
The poem that took the place of a mountain.

He breathed its oxygen,
Even when the book lay turned in the dust of his table.

It reminded him how he had needed
A place to go to in his own direction,

How he had recomposed the pines,
Shifted the rocks and picked his way among clouds,

For the outlook that would be right,
Where he would be complete in an unexplained completion:

The exact rock where his inexactness
Would discover, at last, the view toward which they had edged,

Where he could lie and, gazing down at the sea,
Recognize his unique and solitary home.
