no...

to judge of absinthe, one has to look past the bottles sold by distillers of spirits.

I have taken wormwood and derived absinthe from it. The bitterest drink you should never imbibe, it is. My experiments were inconclusive, because I was too pussy to increase my dosage... my readings had led me to conclude that there was danger in the substance.

In olden times they used wormwood to deworm pets and people, for the active ingredient, thujones, is a pesticide, and toxic to both the host and the parasite.

I would not advise partaking of wormwood, or of absinthe, whatever the alcohol content.

It is associated with madness. There aren't any proponents around these days in the forums so perhaps there is a reason for this.

But it is child's play to produce absinthe. Wormwood is 100% legal and can be obtained at your local garden store...

The question is, do you want to?

Stick with the gentle green bud is my advice.

Absinthe is legit, it depends on your supply. Bottles that are purchased in north america are in deed bogus, but little villiages in easter europe, especially at altitudes produce some very nice absinthe (tastes aweful).

canuck liquor is regulated to restrict alcohol content to 40% or 80 proof...i think there is an exception in newfoundland for a 50%/100 proof rum
