Imagine, if you will, a world where booze was illegal, and cops raided bars and distilleries... but mj was legal, and people brought bags of herb to parties.

This would make a great theme for a movie.

I was talking to a guy today who is attending AA because he was up to a quart a day of liquor...and it was making him sick to his stomach. The thought at the back of my mind was, why didn't you switch over to MJ?

But the truth of the matter is that a lot of people I think simply don't like mj as difficult as that may be to believe.

His reason for overindulging was a complicated list of family tragedies, including kidnapping, divorce, beatings, fights, and implacable hatred...

Drugs will be around as long as there is pain for which there is no cure. The War on Drugs can continue from now until the end of Time itself. There is no end to it. And war begets war, and violence begets violence.

For my part I simply can't obtain mj at the present time so I occasionally subsist on Tequilla. I guess you could say "The War on Drugs" has succeeded where I am concerned but then again I'm just a voice in the wilderness with no connections.

I will extol the virtues of Tequilla for our friends in law enforcement: it's legal and I don't have to indulge any paranoid fantasies... it's dirt cheap at $20 / 1.75 liters. And it doesn't require cooking skills or smoking. Easy as 1-2-3, put it in your glass, add ice and a little bit of tap water and Presto!

TEQUILA has much more kick than mj, but also more toxicity, on the negative side.

Sometimes we think of law enforcement as "the enemy," because they are out to bust anyone involved in mj. However there are many leo's that have come to realize mj is a beneficial herb that helps more than it harms. Some leo's will give you a break if they bust you with mj. It all depends on your attitude and their own character, whether they are full of hatred or whether they are enlightened.

Hatred and warfare are the natural state of mankind, and it takes a lot of effort and education to break free of this state of being, which is transferred from one generation to the next.

MJ is a gentle, misunderstood plant that God put upon this Earth to help guide the savage and warlike Man into more peaceful and calm pastimes. No surprise then, that warlike Man turned his back upon the herb in 1938, with the passage of the Harrison Act, which made marihuana illegal for the first time in the U.S.A. A few years later, we would be engulfed in world war, an unrelated tragedy, but symptomatic of our inherent violent nature.

alcohol is no joke

it takes a hell of a drug to get you as utterly trashed as alcohol can

should it be illegal? no, but neither should pot, lsd or cocaine (etc.) in my opinion

Weed is ez to grow (that's why it's called "weed"). But alcohol is ez-er to produce. Toss an orange in a toliet bowl, wait two weeks and you've got wine. LOL that's what they do in prison, not that I've ever been there. But I do listen to Shirley Q. Liquor, a prominent comedienne.

Do people bother producing their own beer, wine or liquor, even though it's EZ as 1-2-3? No, they prefer going to the grocery store and laying down $5-10.

So it could be with weed.

I had a bad trip off that Tequilla last night. It just got me grouchy and irritable and finally I went to sleep. Maybe I should have combined it with valerian root extract.

I agree no drugs should be illegal...not even the worse, belladonna, which is legal under our strange schizo drug policy.

Yes, it's kind of depressing how the drug prohibitionists refuse to listen to reason. But compare the anti-drug hysteria today with Germany in the 1930s - 40s, and I think today looks better. At least law enforcement isn't harming people based upon what they look like or their ancestry. So in terms of history, some progress has been made. Instead of anti-semitism or racism, today we have prohibition to deal with, a lesser evil perhaps.

Prohibition has its roots dug in racism. The reason we started demonizing drugs
in the first place wasn't because pot was getting out of hand or anything like
that. Cannabis made mexicans and blacks go crazy, rape our daughters, eat our
children, run a muck in society. Sure the reasons for prohibition have changed
since then, but how much? It's still all just crap, lies. It is still very much built on
racism too, just look at who gets busted for drugs and the statistics for who
does drugs. It's so ridiculous. I don't believe for a second that taxing is the main
reason we won't see legal cannabis. Isn't the main reason control?

Agreed, back in '38 people associated mj with Mexicans, blacks and the underground "jazz" culture and speakeasies. Louis Armstrong got busted for pot too. Not because he was doing anything bad, but because detectives staked out his club and waited until he fired one up, then arrested him. Nice way to treat a world-famous musician eh?

Nowadays the prohibitionists think they are protecting the children from drugs. They know full well that pot's not that bad but they fret it could lead to "other" drugs like crack, meth etc. The irony is, if it were legal there would be less likelihood of mj being a gateway drug. It would be just like alcohol, totally above ground and legit.

Me neither, I think Shirley Q. Liquor was just being funny with that anecdote. The real way guys make wine in prison is they spit in a quart of orange juice, add a little bit of sugar and stick it under their bed and wait two weeks, then drink it. I think saliva contains the stuff that starts the fermentation. That's nasty too but not quite as nasty as toilet wine.
