The above picture in a part of my yard that only I go ... I was thinking of putting a plant there near the edge of growth, but have enough cover where no one can see it.

Here's the next shot a little further down I also plan to but the plant a little ways in ...

This is a shot of the area where the path lead to ...

There are train tracks about 150ft away, but with all the growth I doubt any train can see it.

So what do you think guys? It is doable? What needs to be done to prepare for next season.

Any comments or advice will be greatly appreciated. ;)

Nice place!

Cow Manure, its not too strong, saves digging as it breaks down clay soil! perfect NPK for flowering outdoor.
I have responded once before, i'll see if i can find and post, I've been outdoors for well over 10 years, just moved indoor, not the same, but frequency?!

Found it.

Have modified a bit.

make your holes no bigger than 1 foot square, fill the bottom third with real COW manure, the next third half half with the soil from the hole and the final thrid was just the dirt, the manure is too strong for the plant but by the time the roots get there the manure will have leached into the clay/hard soil around and below the hole (cow manure breaks down the hard/clay soil) making it lovely and soft for your roots, and well fertilised!
keep the plant about 4-5 inches below ground level so it won't dry right out.
Ferts- same principles apply, i use something organic.
don't really need to worry about fert for veging, it will grow well enough with the cow manure, and is perfect for bud growth.
in the last 2-3 weeks you may need to add some (organic) "carbo loader" to help the resin on your buds. cow manure will not do this.
later when the plants do start to bud put some more manure around the base. rain runs it into the soil as mentioned.

Good luck...

depends on what you're adding to the soil. look at the farmers...they're out there plowing and ferting the fields a month or so after harvest then letting the fields rest over the winter...then plow again in the spring. it's mostly a common sense thing that fits in with whatever you need for your area.

those look pritty sound man ..if i were you i would cut a large hole in the
middle with direct sun direction, cut down anything that gets in the way
without compramizing the camoflage. then you need to dig up the ground in
squares ie 4 squares each 2m squared with a platform or path in between dig
up the soil now and keep turning over all year to drain away impurities keep it
weed free ! or you can digg "like small swimming pools " big enough to get a
80lt sack of soil inside long ways down ! and cover for a while so nothing falls
in ... when the season starts again buy some nice soil sacks and cut the top
off and stub the bottom with a screw driver (lots of times ) and place in to
hole .... perfect soil in the ground with no weeds or impurities . then all you
have to do is put some netting around the edge (like pond netting) to stop
any thing entering and damaging them . if i were you i would peg the nett
into the ground at the base and fix the top to something so its aways tort !
then it wont come off .. leave a flap to get in tho lol... a rain water butt is also
a good idea so you dont have to carrie water out in the summer months just
keep a lid on it lol .

peace

del ...
I'm not sure what I'm going to use ... I was thinking potting soil and cow manure .... I'm new at this ... I'm willing to take recommendations.

george ...

I'm not sure I follow you with the net thing .... but I don't know if I can keep the area clear with no weeds or impurities ... if I do it when things are dying off will it stay clear until plant season? .... and the materials you mention to prepare I simply can't afford ... no income coming in right now so the best I can to is clear away weeds for now. :(

this is tim nashly lol.... net lol ( same as pond netting ) or the net you put over strawberries to keep the birds off them.that is really cheap ! really cheap lol ! the water butt isnt but ok if you got no funds you dont need it yet lol got till next may june before you plant .. just pin it to the ground with sticks lol ... there cheap : ) . you need the net aroung tho to keep out animals

the soil is the same lol may /june time.. get saving you sexy thing you .
just clear the weeds

all you need is :
1) a spade
2) pond netting
3) your fine ass

pritty simple . peace .x

GR,
What George (lol) is trying to say you need the maximum amount of light, cut back what you can WITHOUT risking your grow.
This looks like a well groomed area, is it your back yard? if so, relax and run the hose late at night.
Don't worry about weeds and that shit outdoors, over the centuries do you think they worried about weeds?! and if its your backyard you won't need to worry about netting.
Where in the world are you? I'm in oZ, we plant seeds 1st day of spring (window sill) until about 1/10/06, then go outside, last year i got 2pds from my outdoor plant, it was huge (too big) this year i won't be planting until around 1/12/06, keep in mind I always grow Sativas outside!
Its a weed.....just stick it in the ground and water it. AH! here's one thing, when watering from above ground it is very hard to get the nutrients down into the soil, so a bottle upside down with the end cut off is a good idea, even better as i use is some pool hose (flexible 2") round the base of the plant in a circular fashion (8-10" circle) with one end capped under ground and the other end coming out of the ground so i can fill it with shit.

If only you were in the Southern hemi now ah?!

What is "oZ"? ... I'm in Ohio and yes it is my back yard ... if we get the rain we got this year I won't have to worry about a hose .... I have flowers growing in the back so it not unusual for me to haul water to that area.

My only worry will be critters ... I don't have a problem with trespassers .... at least none I have seen.

Thanks for the info :)

Sorry GR, OZ = Australia, Ohio is only 4 Degrees further north of the equator than Sydney is South of it, so seasons will be opposite but similar daylight hours etc.
Dig your hole and fill it in first week in Spring and water it over the next month. Also sow your seed on the first day of spring, maybe on the window sill? after a month transplant it into your prepared hole, it will grow and grow, and grow and grow, AND GROW until about the last month of summer and then it will start to flower, depending on the strain will depend how long it takes to flower to maturation.
Sativa's grow up to 16 feet tall so you will need to top the plant, i would recomend doing this when it is about 1.5 feet tall, cut (just the new growth off) the main centre stem, this will make the lowewr branchs grow giving you more on your plant and keeping it short, this can be done a few times, once the new stems get to 1.5 feet, top them, you should only need to do this 2 or 3 times, if it still gets too big, you can tie down the stems so they are horizontal and the little side shoots will grow up into stems!

Don't worry too much about critters (they were wiped out in the late 80's), the rest of your garden looks great i must say, doesn't look like they are worried about critters? Even worst case, you can post as they appear, i'm sure folks will help out.

Basically its sounds perfect! In fact its making me jelous....i have just moved indoors about 6-12 months ago and can't risk the exposure.

Oh Australia! ... I get it now :) ...I loved "Finding Nemo" by the way ....:D

I have been growing indoors for years now .... what I plan to do is take clones of my favorite ladies and plant them ... six perhaps ... so I won't be planting from a seed, don't want to waste my time growing a male. That happened to a friend this year ... all three of his plants turned out to be male. ... bummer ...:(

Next year he will be guarenteed to have girls ..... I'll see to that ;)

This will be my first time ever growing outside ... I'm looking forward to it ... to see how my girls do outside ... my friend tells me that pissing round the area will keep the dears away .... my jack russel does a good job keeping the woodchucks away ... my friend said nothing stops them.

Thanks for the compliment .... I'm in danger of losing this wonderful place so any postive energy you can send my way will be greatly appreciated. :)

Peace

G'Day GR,
Nemo......? never really would have put the two together in this fashion, niavety?
What a bummer alright! All males!
Good idea you have, when you take them from inside to outside be sure to do it gradually, they won't like the sudden change.
(Sorry to all......but you really can't beat outdoors)
Again i could be niave, don't really know a woodchuck is/can do, in OZ at least where i am we don't have deer or woodchuck problems.......in fact the biggest thing to get into your backyard would be a cat?
Lose the place, that place is the planting pad! Maybe this years 6 or so can turn some dow for some more privacy for next years bakers dozen!
Cheers

"Finding Nemo" was set in OZ .... the main characters had to get to Sidney. The sharks were pretty cool too! :)

So tell me how do I gradually get my girls use to the outdoors before I plant them?

The weather was very nice yesterday so I dug my holes in several different spots in my yard. I have nine holes so far about two feet deep. There were a lot of roots too, I got out as much as I could. I plan to leave the holes open throughout the winter. In the spring I will put in the soil .... in late May ... early June I'll put my girls out.

Another day above freezing so I decide to check my holes and make sure they were deep enough for the cups I will be using when I transplant the clones minus the cup into the dirt.

I use my shovel for digging holes for poles .... I made sure the cup was below the surface (leaving a rut so water will go into the hole). When it is time to plant I will make sure the dirt is loose a couple of inches on the bottom so the roots won't have to work so hard. I will also have a couple of inches of potting soil in the bottom too since the girls are use to that kind of soil it will give them a chance to adapt to the environment.

I have plenty of used potting soil and I plan to use that. Half of it has been sitting for over a year and the it will rest over the winter months. I do plan to add veggie matter to it and in March add a bag of cow shit. That should get it nice and rich again.

Correction on the holes..... I have eight not nine. Also I will wait until it's time to transplant .... then I would fill the holes with potting soil. I don't want any root growth from the other plants in that hole until my ladies are planted. I can treat the soil in the container I have it in.

Just an update. :)
