That is weak.
With that said. Get them in to water right away. Get some super thrive and dose them with it, mix it in to the water. Then Mix someup in to the soil. And den, NO AND DEN. And den, plant them in deep pots with soil up to the first node, or even higher if it is not enough for them to support their own weight. They need to be able to stand up straight and have soil all around them if this means burying a node or two do it. Also the soil ought to be kept wetter than usual until/if they show signs of improvement.
If they end up dying and you feel bad about it you can either let if go...like a pussy...or you can be vindictive and examine some of the many excellent revenge ideas out there on the web. Ideally the consequences should make your wife feel at least 3 times as bad as you do.
Lastly maybe you should consider divorce, I've heard it's all the rage these days. Take me for example, I'm a product of divorce and look how bitter I mean how good I turned out.
