I see you've broken the cardinal rule of no more than one seedling per container!!! I won't hold it against you too much. I also see that you employ the use of duct tape. No grow room is complete without duct tape. I don't know how many "How do I set up a grow room" questions I've responded to and I've never written one of the most critical components for a successful grow-op is duct tape. Looks like a nice setup.

actually cali funny u should write that about the one plant per pot thing.2 days
ago i discided to add another 4 pots to the system so now i have only one plant
per pot going on lol ,but my pump doesn't like it it wont give enough water to
each so i need a bigger pump sadly : ( which is another £20 ... thanks for the
compliment on the nice set up.

ps .you gotta have duct tape lol (there would be no character otherwise) : )

Actually i have a plan lol . now this might be better than a CFL .firstly why do
people use CFLs ....because there cheap and low wattage. and cheap to run .
I have found a online trade catalog selling everything a chippy/plumber/
builder needs its called TLC ,in this catalog there are HPS
bulbs ,tranformers ,even reflectors . i just found a 150watt HPS ,now the bulb
is from son-t which im sure as you no is "grow" spectrum . if i set up a
150watt system it will be the same electricity bill as my flowering CFL + flo
tubes i got in paralell ... im going to try this and see if it works as the space i
need it for is only about 4 squared foot...which is nothing . tell me wot you
think
p.s. i would love to get a 250/400 on it but i cant afford the bill . im in a
bodging it faze lol please dont be too complasent ,that also goes for my
spelling ...peace

That is a beautiful room, I have rarely seen one better. I like the design and control systems you have in place there.

Had a question, you had mentioned that you used CFL for flowering, and that a 150 hps would give you the same power useage, what kind of CFL are you using?

Granted I am state side, so things are a bit differnt when it comes to electrics, but for 150 watts of power, I can run two Fluorex 500's they draw about 63 watts each and put out a mostly full spectrum with a edge towards blue light and and are as bight as the 400 watt MH I am using, altho the box claims them to put out equivalant to 500 watts of light. So for me the 150 watts would be about 800 to 1000 watts equivalant of light which is what I thought the whole point of the compact floros was, high equivalant light out put to power use and lower temps. My currant project is to take a old Cubix half rack and biuld it in to a scrog chamber its only 4 feet tall by about 2 feet wide and 3 feet long. I have covered the inside with heavey duty white vinyl, I just find its easier to work with than mylar and works almost as well, and have mounted two Fluorex 500s on supenders and will be putting in a 120 cfm carbon exhaust on a renostat, and three 80 cfm circulation fans. I am thinking that I will probaly go with a bubbler tray hydro system as they are easier to work on in small spaces.

You seem to grow some beautiful plants and I have been reading a number of your responces to people around the site and you obviously know what your talking about, I am just a bit confused onthis bit about the lights and power usage and since I have a number of lights of various sorts I am curious to understand this more before I complete the Cubix, as I amy just stick a 250 watt hps in if it seem like it may be a better idea.

Any thoughts?

Peace,

Grim

thanks as you might no im a perfectionist so i neeeeeed a nice and well
thought out grow room ...the same wattage thing, that was a mistake i meant
that i couldnt afford(elec bill) a 250watt hps (as i have used them before ), i
was going to use a 125watt nurturalite in red to flower ,but just found a
150watt hps , so in comparison it would be nera the 125 than the 250 as the
cfl uses 30% less then a hps ie... in proper wattage 87 watts for the cfl 150
watts for the 150 hps and 250watts for the 250hps . that kinda makes sence
to me lol : ) it doesnt matter any way coz ive decided to stuff it and go for the
250 again lol.after all that it doesnt matter : ) thanks for the compliment on
noing my stuff (even though i cant spell lol) i have had 7 years of trying
things just to find out what happens if you do this lol or this .... i no your not
a beginner so bare with me but the best thing i can say is get good
equipment ,lighting fans etc... , get a good grow book and get a megga
strain thats the key to growing nice weed. and a bit of logic and comon sence
never goes amiss either .peace and thanks

save your $ up & get a 400w mh or better. you'll never use cfl's again & floros only for cloning. once i got a 1000w i dont even bother with the 400w anymore except for the day or 2 of vegging you need before flowering. r

yo fella i really like the room design that you have going their, very nice.
You have utilised your space very well!
What sort of price did it cost to build a room like that, if u dont mind me asking?

I am looking at building a new room sum time soon as am moving house.

Im prob looking at a space of 2m by 1m any idea's on a design?

Was looking at a small mom room for say 2 plants then was looking at doing a futher 8 in the flower room!
Do you think i would have enough space for this?

Got all my equipment RVK's etc

Yes loads of room whats the height ? 1m x 2m x ? im guessing the 2m will be the front? Is the fan going to be mounted in the room or in the loft? Ie thro the box up out the celing into the loft ?
For mums i would use 2 oxy pots as they are cheap and only 37cm diameter ,they are also very fast growing (taking cuttings off a mum rejuvinates faster ). the main room ...Pick a hydro set up ....not soil
flood and drain, bubbler DWC, drip system , nft .Personally i use drip system because it can be built for a space instead of the space being built for the system. U want flos in the mum room and a usual HPS in the flowering room . After you transplant the clones in to the flowering room how long do you normally veg ? What size is the fan? What is the odour control?(ie carbon filter), do you want a drying rack incorparated into the box? have you got back draft shutters for intake ?

sorry for all the questions but im going to design ur system and need to no lol : )
the whole box cost about 100 quid uk price (wood), the drip system cost 50 quid pump inculded, all my hydro stuff "fans ,lights, ducting, meters, mylar, nutes, fan speed controller ,carbon filter , all the rest lol cost about 600 quid and my box is..... 1m wide x 65cm deep x 2m tall has a drying room with odour control and pull out racks veg /flowering room tank room beneath ,sound proof fan box, nutes store and i can flower up to 24 medium clones ( up to 3ft flowering )

ps you could do lot more than 8 if you want! you have enough space to do 2 MASSIVE mums and 9 plants at a square foot each now a plant needs that much space but a 1 foot clone doesnt you could get away with 36 lol personally do 25 ..... 5 x 5 in 15cm square pots over 1m squared so you could flower when they are about 3ft max !if you wanted to which im sure you dont .

do u live in the uk or usa?

answer all thease questions and i will design you system . peace
also write down your email address or send me your email address to mine : ) bigbloke2@hotmail.com as i will design it on photo shop and the upload for this site will not be large enough

I am not here to be a know it all. I do want to say that when heat is involved duct tape is inferior to "foil tape" or "metal tape" It can be found at hardward stores in the ducting or heating/air conditioning sections. The adhesion is incredible and removal doesn't leave behing the mess. Try it (a bit $$$) you won't want to go back.

Hope this helps someone..

Tim,

First let me say that is some nice artwork and a well thought out design. What do you plan to use for the airflow between chambers to prevent light leakage?

hi tim here lol had to change namelol.. first cali ... i no about the metal tape got
some now thanks and secondly rev green the duct conectors between the
chambers are the same as you would get on the side of buildings like back draft
shutters so when the fan is on ther is air pasted through and when it is off there
is no hole ... ar i no what your thinking lol...so when the air is on there is light
leak eh? no in fact there is none because you have the diagonal shutters aiming
towards the 12/12 light so it is ,still a hard suface from the persective of the
18/6 light lol. see pic below... peace

no havent heard of one but just make your own lol just be logical . or you can
get a intake partical filter also stopping insects from entering the grow space

you actually havent sed where this is going ? is it a intake ,outake ,or is it
between rooms/ chambers?

if you just want no light going through the ducting just spray the inside black!
and make sure it loops ...

peace
