These "stable" strains are not truly stable. They are stable in relation to many other strains, especially hybrids, but they are still variable. If you try to make seeds using these strains you may end up with the same problem, but it should take longer for it to happen and to a lesser degree. The only way to avoid this from happening is to use large populations, cloning, or to have a truly stable strain (but if it were a true IBL it would suck). The only other that I know of off hand is Durban poison.
