I find it hard to believe that not one person has had a question regarding harvesting/curing since March.

After you've dried it (hanging, beer box, mesh screen. . .whatever) they key is to loosely pack your nugs in a glass mason jar at first. Open it frequently and for a decent amount of time. So I'll let them hang for a few days. . .until they're pretty dry on the outside, then I'll cut the buds away from the branches. Put them in a jar over night and open them the next morning. I'll leave the jar open for an hour or two. Then close them up. For the first week I'll open the jar several times a day. Over the next few weeks and months I'll repeat the process, keeping them open for shorter and shorter amounts of time.

The ammonia smell isn't good. That's the beginning of mold. You really shouldn't smoke it when you smell that.

i do the same as cali, but i put an oscillating fan blowing not on the plants as they are hanging, but in the room to 'stir' up the air. mold doesn't like moving air. only one day of that or they will be too dry. then it's about trimming the big leaves & hang for another 2 days, depends on RH tho. next into paper bags from grocery store, this slows down the drying. you want to dry them fast @ first to get around mold, then slow it down to develope taste. loosely put the plants into the bags leaving them folded over just a little for some air. each day shake them up a bit & roll or fold bag a little more each time. once the 'bigger' branches snap not bend about a week or less depending on RH, it's time for jars or anything air tight. once they go into which ever you choose you must open them each day for an air exchange & a good sniff. which by the way you should be doing throughout this process. if you ever smell ammonia just back it up to the previous step. i've never had to open my jars past the first week, but with some of the bigger buds you may. r
