Uh-Oh... Have I run out of time?

They showed their first development of Trichromes about 3 days ago. Here's my problem (besides the fact that I am a first time grower): It's July 19th and I have to leave the country on August 17th. Do I have time to harvest, dry and cure? When I leave, I am gone for a week and I have no way to deal with the hydroponics while I am away. Anyone out there have a rescue plan? I've had great success to date and would love to have something to show for it. Thanks in advance.

Have I run out of time? posted by stripertwo (Info) July 19, 2007 20:08:53 ET ya silly billy... you can cut the grow short at 4 weeks and yeild some but dont get ya hope up it will be pittful you can dry and smoke without curing it just has to be dry!!!!... might be a little harsh but if you flush the last week it will be better.... get a cheap dehumidifier and you will be able to dry the buds in 24hours... when you go away if you are planning of taking the buds with you just keep them wrapped in kitchen film /sandwhich wrap for 1/2 days (kind of cures them) if its hydroponics arnt they on a timer with a tank? just get a bigger tank and have the timer on less ... raise the light so you dont get a burn mark on the buds when they grow and PRAY ....it might be ok ... i've left a hydro system alone for a week and its been fine just set everything up so it runs by itself and doesnt screw up ..... its a chance you will have to take alone im afrade hope this helps

The good news is that I still have some 3 weeks to go and these plants are cranking. I may have to harvest a hair (week or two) early but I am into a giddy high not a deep stone. So what the heck. I will get them dried in a few days and then try to give them a short cure. If you were to cure bud for a week unattended (3 days after drying them out), have any thoughts? I heard that putting the bud between sheets of newspaper in a dry place might be OK. I can then put 'em in a sealed jar after and "burp" them every day for a while? REALLY appreciate your help!

Have I run out of time? posted by stripertwo (Info) July 26, 2007 20:46:40 ET curing for 1 week unatended hmmm ... i wouldnt cure in newspaper thats more like drying ... curing is the process of evenly moving left moisture around the bud . if i were you i would put them in a black bin liner with a couple of scrunched up bit of newspaper inside... flap the top over (not tight) and place in a cool cupboard at least there wont be any rot in the dark but when they go in THEY MUST BE DRY ! or better than that wrap them in the kitchen film /sandwhich wrap/ cling film... tightly and place in a dark cupboard ... must be dry and MUST be tight...no air!!!!

Have I run out of time? posted by george j warner (Info) August 08, 2007 10:39:36 ET i just heard something that might interest you you can speed up the flowering time by changing the light cycle to 10 hours on 14 hours off ,it makes the plant think winters coming and it matures fast ... slightly less yeild but it will finish ! laterz
