After searching all over the internet and learning almost nothing about making a good, potent marijuana tea, I decided to just go ahead and try it myself (while abroad in Amsterdam, of course). IT WORKS. What I ended up with was a delicious tea that got me absolutely wasted for several hours (I'll admit I overdid it a bit....). Here's what I did, and the dosages I recommend:

1) Crush up 1 gram of nice kind-bud as fine as you can get it and put it in a teabag (you can unstaple any teabag, replace with ganja, and re-staple or paperclip). You can omit the teabag if you have something to strain your tea through when it is done like a gold coffee filter or cheesecloth.

2) Put 1 cup of water in a medium saucepan or tea kettle and heat over high until boiling.

3) Reduce to a low boil and add your ganja teabag (or loose ganja) with **1/2 teaspoon of butter** (you will not get any effect without this ingredient. NO MARGARINE.). Stir until dissolved.

4) Cover and let simmer for 1 hour.

5) Stir in one cup of whole milk, along with cinnamon, sugar and allspice to taste. You can also add an herbal teabag like African redbush or licorice, if desired). Bring back to boil and simmer for 15 minutes.

6)Add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 30 seconds and transfer to large mug (through filter if not using teabag). Sprinkle with nutmeg.

I drank the whole thing immediately. It was delicious and two hours later I was basically tripping. I'd probably recommend 1/2 as a starting point. If you measure out the recipe as I've directed, you can make 4 small sups and get slightly buzzed, 2 medium cups and get pretty stoned or 1 big cup and get totally blitzed into uselessness.

Have fun!

Just to let everyone know....THIS WORKS, and it works well! Just like mentioned in the recipe, make sure you put butter and milk into the tea or else it will NOT work. Follow the recipe and you will get amazing results...but be careful, it takes about 30-40 mins before it hits you. So don't make a ridiculous amount with say 3 grams in it and drink it all thinking that it won't have an effect on you if you only do a single dose. I drank the whole thing and I was high for around 6 hours, no joke. If you want to have fun, try this recipe!

Last year I decided to try this recipe. I used an 8th instead of a gram. I let it sit in the fridge for 4 days before drinking it because I was saving it for school on friday. Let me tell you... It was BEAUTIFUL! My friend drank half, and I had the rest. She was TOTALLY out of it. All she was doing was sitting there staring at stuff and if you tried to talk to her it took her forever to respond. She said it was an incredible feeling though! As for me, I drank mine in prob and stat. Usually I have no problem with that class, but about 30 mins after I drank the tea it started to get hard, and by like 45 mins I couldn't do it anymore and I was like "wtf?" and then I realized that my arms and legs were going numb. Then I was like "oooooh! the tea!" and it just got better from there! The highness kept increasing for like the next hour and a half, and I got a good 6-7 hours off of it.

WARNING: YOU WILL BE EXHAUSTED AFTER DRINKING THIS! If you drink it in the morning, don't expect to do ANYTHING all afternoon. You WILL need to sleep.

And yes it will work with leaves. As long as they're "fresh" (they still have all the trichomes on them. the crystals). You'll probably need to use trimmings from a whole plant (3 to 4 ft high) to get a decent effect though.

Definitely keep those greens, taze! Cook up some brownies. If your tea was a dud that means the bud still got some buzz in it. You MUST use digestible, non-hydrogenated ( so no cooking oils or margarine ) fats ( butter, cheddar, a nice stilton maybe? ) for the THC to soak into.

I'm very new at this. I've developed an illness and conventional medical practices are not working. So my question may seem stupid. How much in measurements ( i.e. teaspoon/tablespoon) is a gram? Also do you have any suggestions for someone who has never smoked cannabis before? I have a difficult time getting it to light. Any suggestions would be very welcome. Also I'm having a difficult time finding a medical marijuana dispensary in the area I live in. So what would be considered a reasonable price to pay for 1\2 oz.? About how much is 1/2 oz. in measurement. As you can tell I'm a lost sick newbie looking for help. Thanks

A gram is about half a tablespoon. That is considering that the marijuana is dry and ground up in a typical marijuana grinder (not a coffee grinder or a food processor).

Depending on your outlook on the law, you would have best results with your marijuana treatments if you built a small box (computer case size) to grow a personal supply. I believe there are ways to completely scrub any smell from the air.

As for keeping marijuana lit while smoking, keep a lighter handy. Unless you are smoking a marijuana cigarette or cigar the stuff just doesn't typically stay lit. Grinding it up would help though.

Back to the tea, I just made this and its great. Followed the recipe to the number minus the sugar. Looking back I should have added sugar. Took about 35 minutes for the high to kick in after drinking half of the pot. From this recipe I got about 1 1/4 cup of Tea.

Great high. Next time I believe I will add more marijuana and use the tea as more of a creamer for coffee or tea.

well i been smoking 20 odd yrs and had to stop because me chest was basically saying it had had enough.!

basically dropped this recipe to a t and used it with a g of kick arse fresh bud.

well i say to a t i mean i just boiled a cup of water....added a knob of butter for the thc to latch onto...put fresh bud in emptied teabag..tied the top...dropped in the simmering water id brought down from boil....left for an hour or so...added a cup of whole milk and sugar for sweetness(2 teaspoons)after the hour...simmered again....emptied contents into big cup and added a "stir into milk" chocolate for flavouring/taste requirements and believe you me..if the buds good and you got a good bit this will blow you away...better than any smoked buzz ive had..and like i said i been on the gear yrs and never had nothing as good as this.

word of warn though..go with what the guisa sez about using a gram of bud or less..more and youll be tripping your face off....this stone was kller..currently just about to do another of these with a longer boil period to get the true effects if any on what i originally got.

not for the faint hearted and definately worth a try.

10/10......and i aint no mug when it comes to getting stoned either!!!!!!!!!!!!

proper.

I followed the recipe exactly and WOW! This works! I was stoned for about 6 hrs. The only problem was the milk curded and was NASTY to drink! It was all I could do to get it down. Is this typical or did I cook it too long after I add the milk? Also, after it boiled for an hour there was very little water left in the pan. I was close to scorching what was in there. I think I had the heat on too long. Anyone else experience this?

Ok, so i followed the recipe to a modest T. But, am an avid weed smoker and smoke many upon many upon many. Fat , Delicious Blunts. I have made brownies in the past and they have foolishly been succesful. The tea was not impressive to be honest. All though I am really fucked up now that you mention it. Fuck . Ok... maybe this is a good recipe. I used about ... between an 1/2 8th and an 8th. Somewhere in there I smoked a blunt of the last of my stash - You see. I am , going to try and stop smoking for bit - i am totally asthmatic. Anyway good luck to any other Adventuers ....Pieaces

The first time i tried it I just got a buzz that lasted for 12 hours. Then i tried it on an empty stomach and 2 hours later I was bombed out of my mind. It works but can take 2 hours to feel it. so patients is a virtue. Any body know if there are any negative health risks to ingesting weed. Waht about pesticides???? If not this beats smoking and the high is INCREDIBLE!!!!But knocks you on your arce!

a few things you can do- use lactose free milk, soy milk (silk vanilla is nice, silk w/ DHA gives you a small amnt of an omega-3 fatty acid that is severely lacking in the western diet. Also, instead of butter- you might try ghee (clarified butter), which is butter with all the milk solids and water removed. according to ayurvedic medicine, it's better than regular milk products for asthmatics and other "congested" people. The reason ghee came to mind is because one of the main ways of making tradition chai tea is to toss all of your spices and tea in a pot, then water, then a bit of butter or ghee- to get the fat/oil fractions of the herbs into the tea. Traditionally it's simmered for quite a while, many Indian (dot, not feather ;) ) households have chai on the stove through many of the waking hours. I know that there are some traditional cannibis tea like beverages consumed in india. I'll bet one could add a little cannabis to a pot of chai, and have positive effects, as well as a tasty beverage. Now, I havent tried it with the bhang added- but when I make chai, I use a microwave on low power for awhile to cheat and simulate hours of simmering. Don't try with teabags- they'll break. Toss in your herbs or masala mix and tea, and cow/soy products, and run on low for 10min or so depending on how strong you like, etc- then strain through tea strainer or cheesecloth. I have no clue how this might effect it if one had cannabis in the mix. It might really increase the extraction of the various yummies, as on a molecular scale, a microwave turns water molecules into little buzzsaws that would cause alot of movement in the suspension. Anyway, the microwave chai method works great for extracting the various compounds of the other herbs, so....
I found this after typing all the crap above- it's got a link to bhang chai and some other goodies. http://www.indiacurry.com/faqterms/whatbhang.htm
