ok, borrowing from Wiri here. I think it would be cool to see or hear about folks favorite movie clips if you want. Be warned tho, there are spoilers. And if nobody is interested that's fine too cuz I found an excuse to surf youtube, lol.

I have included clips from True Romance. I love that flick.

Gary Oldman as Drexel, a wigger (white guy who thinks he is black.) The theme behind true romance isn't love, it's courage. This scene is one that epitomizes that, as Clarence an average guy who runs a comic book store confronts his girlfriends pimp to stay away from her. His inspiration to do so comes from his hero, Elvis.

Courage remaining the theme throughout, Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken confront each other. Hopper is playing Clarence's father. He knows he will end up dead irregardless, and goes out in glory, defending his son. From what I have heard Walken and Hopper filmed this scene only once. Halfway through they began to improv. The director used it for the movie.

Brad Pitt representing the stoners:

Keeping on the theme of a courage, as far as I know this is one of the first scenes in a movie where the blonde bimbo, played by Arquette, is neither killed by the bad guys nor saved by the good guys, but in fact saves herself. A role model for many.

imo, an awesome ass flick.

thanks for letting me babble, onto the laundry.
best wishes,
HM

OH - I knew that second clip was the ear thing before I looked at it. I have seen alot of violent movies but that scene always takes the cake. Not sure why it gets me so much, if its the dancing before or what, always gets me tho. Young Frankenstein one of the best. My ex turned me onto five easy pieces, and quite a few other classic flicks as well, love that scene too.

bum - excellent movies imo. in the glengarry glen ross clip, there is a banner in the back that says "rio rancho". Interestingly enough, there is a suburb here in New Mexico, its like the top five fastest growing suburbs in the US. It's beginnings back in the day tho were old New Yorkers who bought land out in the middle of nowhere, from some sort of sales group, way back when. Rio Rancho would have literally been out in nowhere then. The base of Rio Rancho are old retired New Yorkers, but since Intel moved in it is a much more thriving suburb than it was. Anyway, can't help but wonder if there is any correlation with the movie or just coincidence.

Mr. B - I assume this is your campfire clip:

As for the rest of you guys, quit being pussies and play, lol. Just kidding, kinda. :)

best wishes,
HM
