hanging plants from plaster ceiling?

(Info) May 01, 2008 13:44:56 ET In Reply to: hanging plants from plaster ceiling? posted by bum (Info) May 01, 2008 13:22:03 ET use those 'butterfly' bolts (found at any hardware store and many grocery stores in the home section) that spread open once they're put thru the hole. they still won't hold a heavy load but will hold up to a medium size pot and hanger. for bigger loads search out the studs and drill into them...then use a wood screw to fasten the hanger to the ceiling.

If you don't find any studs in the ceiling it's probably time to find another casa. peace

There is a lathe (lath?) of wood and steel, or tin, mesh directly behind the plaster. Use a masonry bit, not a wood or metal bit, and go slow.
