Is anyone other than me wondering about the latest DC Madame news?

DC Madam found dead in Florida

Deborah Jean Palfrey, the US woman recently convicted for her role as the head of a Washington DC escort agency, has committed suicide, police say.

Brandy Britton Found Dead in Her Baltimore Home

One of the escort service employees was former University of Maryland, Baltimore County, professor Brandy Britton, who was arrested on prostitution charges in 2006. She committed suicide in January before she was scheduled to go to trial

yep i know, kind of freaky huh?

statistically women do not commit suicide by hanging, they do pills ............. kind of odd that 2 people involved in this used the same "out of character" method.

my understanding is that shed used was somewhat impractical as well

i supposed anything can be made into case via hindsight though.

"She committed suicide in January before she was scheduled to go to trial"

It always seems to go down the same way. They commit suicide right before they’re to go on trial against an important & powerful person or people. It's a little too convenient if you ask me. I can't say I'm suprised.

many people that know her have said the DC madam said repeatedly that she'd
never go to jail and that she'd kill herself. they could be in on it though.

I don't get it. She has all this money and could haul ass if she wanted to. Why not flee to Mexico and live it up a ith pills, there's the chance you might vomit and survive. little bit? Suicide over a six year jail sentence? She probably wouldn't even be in maxi. Then with time off for good behavior...

p.s. if somebody killed her, they could just as easily have given her an overdose of pills. The DC madame was sophisticated enough to know that hanging is a quick and easy death if performed correctly. The main thing is to fall from a high enough distance that the neck breaks, so that you die from that rather than suffocation. I'd say about ten feet would be enough, but twenty (possible in a barn) would be better. If you head pops off then oh well, that's even better. Saddam Hussein had the merciful execution... POP!

"I don't get it. She has all this money and could haul ass if she wanted to. Why
not flee to Mexico "

tiredoftheshit, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzvrgQ5hOM4

she was retiring-- she suspected that's why they were hassling her.

Palfrey was arrested for pimping in 1990, but she fled before trial rather than
face prison. She sent the judge a note saying she feared "murder disguised in
the form of just another jailhouse accident or suicide would await me."
....
When the feds busted her hooker ring in 2006, she rejected a deal that would
have required her to spend a few months behind bars. Instead, she pleaded
not guilty and vowed to leverage powerful names in her little black book to
secure her freedom.
Her little black book was actually pretty hefty: She had 46 pounds of phone
records, including the names of 10,000 clients.
On July 9, Palfrey posted the much-feared and awaited list of names on her
Web site for free.

Alex Jones: Well the fact that you're so visible really protects you going on
Larry King and other big shows, but do you want to put it on record that
you're not planning to commit suicide?

Madame DC (Jeane Palfrey): Nooo I'm not planning to commit suicide, I'm
planning to go into court on April 7th, if indeed we do have the trial, and I
plan on defending myself vigorously, and I plan on exposing the government,
ahh, in ways that uh, you know I do not think they want me to expose them, I
want them to explain to me in open court why they came after me.

....

I was a very routine person, all of the sudden, here I go, and I abruptly quit
the business, now if you're watching me from afar, this could be a very, in a
very Hooveresque like fashion, this could be very alarming, she shuts down
the business, she's selling her house, she'smoving, oh my god what's going
on?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzvrgQ5hOM4

so we're suppose to believe this strong willed woman fighting against the
government hung herself in the face of jail time?????

bbq,

I think I have to change my stance on the subject. The more I hear about her and the suicide, the more it sounds like she committed suicide. There's really no proof to show that there was foul play. Please correct me if I am wrong. To me it sounds like she didn't want to or felt she couldn’t do the 6 years in prison.

well maybe that is why the whole story has not been more inflamed in the press. you might be absolutely right. if the media has decided they know enough about it, and there is no conspiracy theory they would definitely move on and let this family grieve in private.

as a matter of fact, maybe i should do the same

yes she did kill herself as I live nearby where she hung herself is in the next county to mine. I know a lot of LEO here from working in our county jail 4 years here.........and naturally I poked around at Sneaky Pete's one night recent where they go after shift here,...... I myself think the government should prioritize worse crimes than what a woman chooses to do with her body....politicians use these services as we all see now and persecute the people who they pay to sleep with. HYPOCRICY AT ITS MAXIMUM! IMHO!

but POLITICIANS ARE USUALLY TWO FACED ANYWAY!

The illegal status of prostitution just strikes me as odd.

It's perfectly legal to give a stranger money. It's perfectly legal to sleep with a complete stranger. So why can't you just sleep with someone for free and then give them a monetary gift that (wink wink) has nothing to do with the sex?

My second argument is that you can't have sex for money, but if you have sex for money and video tape it you are part of the billion dollar porn industry. So next time you enjoy the services of a prostitute, set up a video camera that way you're paying an "actress" rather than soliciting a pro. Basically the law stipulates that you can't trade sex for money.... unless you video tape it and distribute it.

Lastly there are suga mammas and suga daddies, trophy wives and boy toys. People have sex with their partner because they are getting cars or clothes or get to live in a huge mansion and get a slice of the will. All of which is perfectly legal. You can be a greedy slut, just don't be a prostitute.

On the other hand the prostitution industry oftentimes takes advantage of women. Some pros, even in legal brothels are being forced into that situation. But I guess the coercion should be illegal and the act itself should be legal.
