Newbie in need of real help!!

I'm 18 living in New York. I don't have any pot smoking friends, though I've heard of this kid who deals at skool, but I've never spoken to him before except through a myspace message in which he responded with "sorry, i only talk about my business with people I know." I barely have any idea of where to start when it comes to finding a dealer. I know I could go to the kid at skool- but for some reason I'd rather not. I've heard throughout this and other forums that you just have to ask around and you'll eventually find someone, but does that mean I have go up to random "shady-looking" people at 12:00am asking if they know anyone who sells pot (sounds a little dangerous, and possibly offensive). And I'm not sure if I should be asking around at school, because I don't want to suddenly be known as the kid who's constantly looking for pot, which could potentially get me in trouble. Anyway, any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated. Thank You!!!!

Anything you can talk about. Get to know the people that work there and INCLUDE other customers in on the conversation. Make friends with these people if possible. New York shouldnt' be too hard of a place to find weed. Another thing you could try is to take a day trip to Toronto. Canada is a lot more stoner friendly then the US and you MIGHT have better luck finding a street dealer there, but what I would do in your case is just as you say, find a shady character and ask. Dont take a shitload of money with you. $10-$20 should be plenty. If you take more you run the risk of being robbed for more. But as soon as you find one guy that will sell to you get his number or find out how you can contact him again for more. THEN, take that pot you got and either smoke it to your dome or find someone that looks cool and ease the convo into the area of weed. If you think he smokes, offer to smoke a joint with him if he'll roll it. Potheads love doing this kinda shit for ppl that cant roll, esp if it means getting high for free. Now you have a smoking buddy that hopefully has a dealer that he will go to for you. Just remember to NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER give the money before you get your drugs. You wont see the money or the drugs ever again. Another possibility is to just find a homeless dude and ask him to hook you up. They probably know a crack dealer that sells nickle bags or dime bags. I dont reccommend this. When asking shady characters for pot, say things like "Where da trees?", "Where da weed?" "Where da green?" Like others have said, dont act like you're a fucking narc, cause that could get you killed. Hope this helps.

It's Usually Schwag but certainly better than going dry. I wish I knew of a similar place here in West Palm Beach. It's been years since I've had a source. Ask them if you know where you can find some "greens" or "Mota" or "trees". And like that other dude says, don't give them the money till you get the weed in your hand. And try not to be afraid when you ask. And make sure you suck it right into your lungs when you smoke. It's not the same way you smoke a ciggarette.

I lived up there for a year and found it pretty easy to find it, and I'm not the type of person who wanders around on the streets looking for random stuff. I recommend Kensington Market in Toronto. When you hear Jamaican music & you see the guy standing outside with dreds, walk past and say something like "ganja man". Make sure you got the cash in your pocket before hand. There's nothing more irritating and noticable than pulling out your wallet, flipping through bills to find a twenty when the guy's standing there waiting to exchange. Then once you got it, head over to the Hot Box Cafe which is right there in Kensington. You can smoke in the back patio. Used to chill there a few times. A little piece of Amsterdam in North America! You'll find all sorts of stuff in there!

One, they may not even speak to you period, and who could blame them? They don't know you. And two, I remember a while back a buddy of mine got his ass kicked in downtown Cincinnati for that by some fascist straight edge assholes. He saw the punk look and I guess forgot about Minor Threat and the whole straight edge movement. Not that all straight edge people are like that. I've known plenty who are all about live and let live.

Lucky 4 me, there was this guy i knew 4rm my hood, who had been tryin 2 hit on me 4 a while who happend 2 be a dealer, so he hookd me up. Only problem was that he kept expectin me 2 pay him back the favour, buh we sorted that out, and i eventually found another dealer (who i got 2 kno 4rm him actually)...anyway, i think the whole hangin out at a shop n makin frndz thing sounded the most possible, just walkin up 2 a stranger n askin cud end up in many wayz, at least with the other plan, u got a lil'more control over the situation... gud luck man!

SOMEbody you know has a source. But don't think you can figure it out by guessing - sometimes people look like smokers but they aren't. A line I used to use in case I asked the wrong person is that I had a relative with cancer and it was for them. Shady, shameful I know but I was needing it bad. Buying from strangers is a good way to have bad things happen to you. But, if you absolutely must, at least conduct the transaction in public with people around and with an escape route if things don't go according to plan. Honestly, given your age and, with all due respect, lack of worldliness, I'd go to a bar late, find an ugly chick with a hot friend and just tag along. Bound to be some weed to go around in that scenario. Good luck. Report back.

Granted, I had my best connect in NY from asking a lookout for a dealer. The first couple of times, I dealt directly with the lookout. Once they got to know me, I started dealing with the man and things really started rolling from there. At the same time, I've also had bad experiences from going this route. Used to have a kid (that was probably part of the problem, he was like 16) that was real steady for a while. But once I started asking for bulk (half Os and O's), he started getting shady -- shorting me, and finally ran off with my money once. I go on business trips from time to time and have had luck with homeless people. Usually I'll bump into a guy whose realtively clean and just looking for food, so I'll pop the question. Have gotten hooked up lovely in Phoenix, LA, Baltimore, and Boston. May have been nothing but tumbleweed (schwagg) but hey, if you're in need, can't be choosey. The biggest things I learned were to be confident. If you seem like a 'mark', you'll get treated like a mark. You have to be confident and firm. If someone is running games on you or doesn't have what you need, just say 'that's OK, I'm cool' and continue on. Also, look like you belong where ever you're going. A preppy looking white kid in the middle of Bed Sty Brooklyn at night talking to the local herbman smells shady as hell. You might be cool with the dealer and can pull that off. But guarantee that others will be watching you and might take you as a mark. Also attracts attention from from the po-po. When in Rome...

The best thing to do is to acquaint yourself with as many people as you can and get to know them. Chances are, a good number of them smoke, and they probably won't hesitate to tell you this so long as you convey yourself in a laid back manner(I would never tell an uptight, conservative guy that I smoke!).
