The daily factoid is correct but incomplete.

To Wit: "Daily Factoid: Two cannabinoid neurotransmitters are known: arachidonylethanolamide (anandamide), the first one discovered, and 2-arachidonylglycerol, which is 170 times more abundant."

Palmitoyl ethanolamide (PEA) is another endogenous cannabinoid (a cannabinoid that occurs naturally in animal tissue, specifically that of humans) found in brain in liver tissues and has also been isolated in mammalian egg yolks. PEA is, however, non-cannabimimetic, meaning it won't get ya fucked up.

By the way, 2 Arachonodoyl Glycerol (2-AG) is actually several times more potent than anandamide (AEA) as an agonist at CB1 and CB2 receptor sites - it'll fry your guord but good.

AND it's for SALE for $21.00 per milligram!

Before y'all run out and stock up on 2-AG you should know it has quite strong emetic effects in human digestive tissue. That means it'll make you puke your guts out while you're gettin baked.

There's my public service for the day.

I would like to know how someone can determine which neurotransmitters are reactive to cannabinoids? I wonder how many neurotransmitters are in the brain? Have these been isolated and standardized?

There are 1,015,924 neurotransmitters in the human body. um, carry the one . . . make that 124 known nt's. No they have not all been reproduced. It's not like extracting salvinorin-a from salvia, you know.

Actually I'm quite sure at this point you've lost interest because the way you've phrased your question intimates a fundamental confusion on the subject. Cannabinoids are natural but not endogenous analogs to the body's natural anandamidic receptors. They are both "keys" that fit some of the same "locks." One the body makes and the other a plant fakes.

Hell, human science can't even explain gravity at this point much less predict molecular structures that just so happen to zog your bean real good. I mean - I can barely make toast some days, if that helps you feel better about it.

And - YOU can't really buy them, you know.

In causa civis plebeius.

Let me try again. So what I've learned in the mean time is that there are alot of different kinds of cannabinoids. Most of the long haired hippy types are mostly interested in the one type found in cannabis sativa, namely
Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol
Δ9-THC-C5
And as nature would have it certain cannabinoids exert a physiological effect in animals due to there being a receptor to them.
Cannabinoids can be either endogenous(produced in the body), natural(like in cannabis) or synthetically produced. Some of the literature I have seen on anandamide receptors confuses me. I'm not sure though if anandaimde is a receptor or a cannabinoid? (Thats a poorly stated question). Anyway I am interested in the biochemistry of cannabis and hope to see more posts from ya.
Have a meaningful Memorial Day
