Generally speaking, newer folks tend to way overwater seedlings which will cause elongated stems. If in soil, you need to allow the seedlings to use up most of the water in the soil before rewatering. This normally takes several days with smaller size pots, and even longer with bigger pots.
An occilating fan gently blowing the heat away from the tops will also strengthen and thicken the stems because every time the plants move a tiny bit, it makes a tiny rip in the cells of the stems, and as the plants repair themselves, it makes the stem stronger than it was. Its kinda like stress training for strengthing bones in humans. If you are constantly lifting heavy weights, the bone will become thicker and stronger over time. Same principal here.
Also, newer folks tend to have the lights too far away from the tops which causes them to stretch for usable lumens. A 1000w can be within 18" of the tops if there is also a fan moving the air/heat around.
If you plan to transplant them into bigger pots at any point, you can simply bury the stem right up to the leaves in the new soil. That section of buried stem will eventually grow roots and make a healthier plant. Good luck
