I'm in my second grow. I only had 3 bubblegum seeds left. Of those, one failed to propagate and one died shortly after breaking the surface. The third has grown and thrived. Its now about 3 weeks into flowering and close to 6 feet tall. I've just discovered its a hermie, probably stress related as early in my grow the temps were quite high (over 100 F for several days).

I've read that you should definitely kill hermies as they contain seeds, less THC and bad genetics. But this is my only plant (after 10 weeks of growing) and it's unlikely I'll be able to start another grow until March because of travel plans early next year. I've also read that you can snip off or pinch off the balls and salvage the plant.

So my question is this... am I going to be able to salvage some decent mid-grade type weed with some seeds and a little less potency by removing most of the male pods? There are literally hundreds of mall flowers so I can't eliminate them all, but if I reduce the amount of male flowers (and thus reducing the pollen) will I still get a decent amount of resin production from the female flowers?

I don't want to kill the plant and leave myself completely dry for another 8 months but I don't want to waste my time with a hopeless cause if the end result will be some shitty mexican brick weed. Anyone with experience salvaging a hermie and the results?

lol i never killed hermies lmao , dont worrie lol just pluck off the male flowers : ) , back in the day when i was a beginner i had a crop of 40 plants about 10 were hermies , i just plucked off the male flowers and they were fine .. check ya plant for pollen sacks every 3-4 days pluck them off and throw them away .

that stuff about less potency and bad genetics is rubbish
i have never seen the difference between potency and the big seed companies that sell feminized seeds deal with hermies to make the feminized seeds so bad genetics must be everywhere lol

relax , your plant is fine .. just pluck them off

laterz

You say there are lots of male flowers, and if they are not opened yet, there shouldnt be any big amount of seeds if you can keep up with eliminating the male flowers.

Its just a pain to have a strain around thats prone to hermi. I stopped using Dutch Passion seeds some time back because so many of their females would hermi.

One way that works well is to use a pair of tweezers to pick off each individual male flower. Good luck

yer tweezers work well : ) , you can keep a few male flowers in a jiffy bag in the fridge if you want so next time you get a female you can get some feminized seeds back :)

Thanks for the reassurance guys. Yeah, there are lots of male flowers but only a few have opened. I know that just one can pollinate like crazy but I figure if I minimize the number that do open I can reduce the number of seeds I get as well as maintain relatively good resin production. I've plucked most all the males I could find though there are a few tiny ones I couldn't quite get to (sorta buried in the colas already). I'm hoping to still produce some pretty good stuff.

The reason males are so tall it they want to knockup everything in sight and in the air!!!.
And they do, reguardless of how may of there balls you cut off.
You now have a room full of pollen, clean with a solution of bleach, every nick and cranny of the space
Next option is to get pink dress and attract the male pollen.
Note pot will not knock up a humans, bad genics produce bad plants plain and simple.
