Hi,
I used to visit the boards a lot but under another name which I can't remember the password for and don't have the email account any more so have had to re-register.

Anyway, I have a few plants growing - White widow - and they are just over a week into grow under a small HPS. Now, I've noticed that the leaves are starting to curl on them! :(

I have checked for insects etc and found none. I have watered them daily but not over-done it.

I have grown before with no problems, but never white widow.

Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? I tested the temp with the back of my hand at the plant level and whilst it was warm, it certainly wasn't "hot". I've just moved the light up a bit to see if that helps but any other suggestions are much appreciated!

Cheers

seedlings need a little more gentle handling than a mature plant and your light should be well beyond the warm level until the roots get established. my guess is (without knowing more about your situation) your seedling is getting too hot. the other possiblility is you are watering too much...

and have you tested the PH of your water? VERY important...!

and another possibilty is you are giving them ferts already (don't do that) and/or you're using miracle potting soil...or other pre-ferted soil.

Well, after moving the lights up, all seems fine. The heat seems to have slowed them down growing a bit initially (I expected this) but they're now recovering and coming along nicely. The leaves which curled started dying so I just pinched them off.

I'll grab a couple of pics sometime & update you!

I found also that the plants were drying out too quickly as the pots were too small - (If I'm out for the evening then I can't water every day). I have therefore re-potted them tonight in the hope they will retain more water in the pots! :)
