light to high?

scratch4hiphop Registered on Oct-07-2001 More User Info Message #43688 posted by scratch4hiphop (Info) May 12, 2007 11:25:12 ET hey all first off, please dont just diss the envirolites if you dont dig em..ill prolly change the light to a hps is a few weeks, or maybe get another envirolite but a red one. I currently have 2x 12 blue. but yeh, anyone used these or no how close i can put them to the seedlings, the dont give off much heat and i read on another forum someone said 'Seedlings/young plants place the back of your hand under the light if its to hot for you its too hot for the littles ones' is that true? if not i can bring that light down alot..cuz its pretty high, about a foot from the top of the plants..and you can feel a lttle heat from there but not much, what do you all think? Note this works for all bulbs , mormaly used for growing pot The cpf your using is cute , It almost puts out as much light as one bulb in a 4ft full ballast bulb. Do to the hight cost and fast rate of decline of the bulbs output. Cpf are the most expensive way to go. But if you having fun do not sweat it. Can not find my pictures of 4 bulb 48 watt fullservice ballast, but you can get them to 30-32 inch and 18-24 in dia. Do not use the wattsavors as they only put out 32 watts of power. Also note watts is watts , so a 23 watt bulb puts out 23 watts. If the Cpf were good industry would replace 48 watt fixtures about 20 years ago. Cpf are only good if your selling them. Watts is Watts OHMS law.
